In this demonstration by Julija Mazover there are several elements that characterize the way of artistic exercise practice based on the principles of Heinz Grill.
The intense dynamic engagement of the middle spine is clearly visible. This is also carefully built up during the preparatory rotation by lifting the side of the chest. The expressiveness of the proximity to the ground, which is not lost in the final position, is also striking. It is a distinctive element in all positions that involve the second energy center. Finally, the continuous structuringof the movement is also noticeable. Shoulders, head and arms are relaxed. The middle part of the spine is active. The sacral region is concentrated and calm. The stretched leg is drawn intensively into the pelvic region, which in turn supports the relaxed expression in the head region. The rotation also naturally creates an opening upwards.
In his book “The Spiritualization of the Body”, Heinz Grill describesthat the twisted one-legged head-knee position is one of the most beautiful yoga positions. “It combines the wide stretch which requires great activity of the will, with the subtle sensitivity of being open.”
